McKesson Canada presented their acquisition offer during a special assembly with the pharmacists/ shareholders of Uniprix in early May. 2017. The offer was accepted and the acquisition process will move forward with a vote from pharmacy owners scheduled for May 16th, 2017 as well as a review and blessing by the Competition Bureau.

With this transaction, McKesson will own two important pharmacy banners in the province of Quebec, the other one being Proxim. This represents a total 580 pharmacies, which includes the smaller size pharmacies, Uniprix Santé and Uniprix Clinique.

McKesson President, Paula Keys, indicated that the Uniprix pharmacies will be run independently, the company will keep its Montreal head office, and there will be no job cuts.
